Re: Help me understandTyphlosion is a UU(Under Used) Pokemon.... WHY??
Re: Help me understandProbably people instead of doing the game trade with someone who beat it already or they get another person to migrate there pokemon and then trade or trade from there previous games (pearl, diamond etc) with themsleves and people using other starters, but for me typhlosion isnt uu

Re: Help me understandActually typhlosion isnt a UU.... its in NU(Never Used), but it's used in UU(rarley). Reason being, Very shallow Special Movepool and a weakness to Stealth Rock. With a Base 109 Sp. Attack and Blaze 100 speed and access to Eruption, its only useful set would be Choice Scarf but with that you'd be Scarf locked into Eruption and even if your locked into it would only take a matter of seconds for a Blissey or Empleon too come in, eat that Eruption for lunch, and Destroy you with Seismic Toss or Life Orb/Specs Hydro Pump/Surf. Even if you were too live those you'd still be locked into Eruption and it would be weaker due to the loss of HP. Typhlosion is a great Pokemon for In-Game play and UU teams, but in OU it would be useless due to the abundance of Stealth Rock in OU.
This is the only useful set Typhlosion has, with Nature and item to. ![]() Typhlosion@Choice Scarf(Raises speed by 50% but locks you into the first move you use.) Rash nature(Sp. Attack+, Sp. Defense-) or Modest(Sp. Attack+, Attack-) Blaze Eruption Focus Punch(For rash) or Focus Blast(For modest) Fire Blast Hidden Power Grass or Hidden Power Rock ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Help me understand^ yeah what he said
He doesn't have enough good, strong moves that provide decent coverage. (Flare Blitz, Hyper Beam, SolarBeam for instance aren't good moves) Fire actually isn't a good typing. Almost all of its resistances are to uncommon types like Bug, Grass, Steel and Fire. It's also hurt by the fact that Stealth Rock does 25% to them. I think the real reason why Typhlosion (and many many other fire types) are NU is because of the sheer amount of competition. There are a lot of Fire type Pokemon that pretty much do the same things, which means the best Pokemon at doing that sort of thing will get used the most. Why Heatran is in OU is pretty obvious. He is a stat monster, has partial Steel-typing which provides him with good resistances. Infernape is in OU because he is an offensive machine. His stats don't indicate much, but his partial Fighting-type combined with Close Combat gives him a very strong and good attack. Apart from this, he also has Nasty Plot and Swords Dance. (both of their typing remove Stealth Rock weakness) Arcanine being in UU is explained by his ability Intimidate, and the move ExtremeSpeed. Blaziken is like a poor man's version of Infernape, so he has a place in UU. Houndoom is in UU because his part Dark-typing gets him an extra decent attack, and because he has Nasty Plot. Typhlosion has above average stats. But not having an additional typing and no moves like Swords Dance, Nasty Plot or Dragon Dance makes him mediocre at best. If you have around 15 Pokemon capable of doing pretty much the same things, only the ones that have specialties or niches are going to get used. Typhlosion doesn't have any, and that's why it falls short. ANNO 1404 CLASS PYRAMID

Re: Help me understand
Thanks, Johan. Eruption should give Typhlosion a boost ever so slightly, though. Am I right? Very few pokemon learn it that have the speed to use it effectively. I have had a HORRID time with Infernape and Blaziken, and in competitions, I have actually come out on top with Typhlosion, and not with Infernape and Blaziken. I heard that in Gen. 5 they are making Typhlosion's movepool better. That makes me happy. Do you like Typhlosion, Johan?
Re: Help me understandhe's uu/nu because he's the easiest from his region to train, the hardest being chikorita.
